Welcome to Far Beyond Woodworking.
I am a self taught woodworker. Shaker and Mission styles have helped to shape my own personal style.
I use clean lines, with traditional joinery, ie. Dovetails on all drawers.
Far Beyond Woodworking is a small one man shop in the shadows of Mount Snow in West Dover, Vermont.
I have been working with wood for as long as I can remember, but not seriously until 1987. That is when I realized that it was what I wanted to do.
The first 10 years were just a hobby, a piece here and a piece there. In 1997 my employer passed away and I was faced with the question of what I was going to do.
Not knowing what my employment was going to be, I turned my hobby into a business.
Since 1997, when I took the plunge, there has never been a day that I didn't have work.
In April 2003, Far Beyond Woodworking was incorporated.
I work with all local hardwoods, a lot of them are cut and sawed by my Dad, on his farm in Whitingham, VT.
Some of the woods I use are Maple (Birdseye, Curly, Blistr, Tap Hole), Ash, Oak, Cherry, Walnut, and Butternut.
All of which, except Walnut, grow here in Southern Vermont.
My finishes are a hand rubber oil finish.
Some of the shows I do are...
"Hildene" - Manchester, VT
"Taste of Stowe" - Stowe, VT
"Flemington Crafts" - Flemington, NJ
"Old Deerfield Christmas Sampler" - West Springfield, MA
"Tower Adirondack Reg. Arts" - Glens Falls, NY
"Taste of the Valley" - West Dover, VT
"Vermont Life Wine and Harvest Festival" - Wilmington, VT
